Doug and Barb Rogers were married in Sarnia, Ontario on July 29, 2006 and moved to the Caribbean to live aboard their sailboat “Chateau”. They were born and raised in Ontario. Doug worked from his home in Pt. Huron, MI and Sarnia, Ontario as a Sales Engineer for the past 22 years. Barb worked for BDO Dunwoody as an office manager/accountant for 21 years. They both retired when they got married to live out their dreams of sailing the Islands.
Doug is a certified sailing instructor with the Canadian Yachting Association and has been sailing and racing for over 40 years. He has owned and chartered several sailboats in the Great Lakes and the BVI’s. He is an extremely patient and enthusiastic teacher. Doug encourages both novice and seasoned sailors to participate in sailing “Chateau”.
Barb started sailing with her grandfather as a child. She purchased a Grampian 26’ in 1995 which she sailed with her family and friends until she sold “Banana Split” in 2001 just before meeting Doug. Barb is a warm bubbly hostess and excellent first mate to Captain Doug.
With one year under their belts, Doug and Barb have designed a vacation they feel will be extremely enjoyable for their guests. Their All Inclusive Charter includes two meals a day. They serve breakfast and will either make lunch or dinner depending on what meal the guests choose to eat ashore. They also provide their guests with soft drinks, “Captain’s Drink of the Day”, domestic wine and beer, and a standard ship’s bar. Providing two meals a day allows the guests to experience some of the local flavors. Doug and Barb offer a variety of good wholesome meals. Their meals are simple and delicious. For those of you who prefer to do your own cooking and perhaps take an active role in sailing they offer a Captain and First Mate Charter. As a guest on this charter you will have full use of the galley, fridge, freezer, gas and/or charcoal barbecue. All provisions will be your responsibility but Barb will assist in the galley and to make your holiday more enjoyable, she will gladly provision the boat in advance according to your desires.
